Dream Catcher Tutorial (Tutorial Wednesday)

Hey Guys!!

Lynette from Pink And Purple Dots requested that I do a dream catcher tutorial.  Dream catcher nails was one of the first designs I had done on myself so I knew I wouldn't mess up too much!

This design is a bit more challenging than some, but it gets better with practice!
Starting from left to right:

Start of with your base color(s) (I chose Sally Hansen "White On" Sally Hansen "Coral Reef" and a mini Sally Girl)
Once the polish is dry get a thin brush or toothpick and add your guide lines
Then add some more lines in and out of the dream catcher and feathers.  I added a few dots on the dream catcher lines.
Last but not least add some white dots inside the dream catcher and you're all set!

My lighting was being a pain in the behind so that's why it looks weird. :P

I messed up the white dots a little but I covered most of it up.  (shhhhhh!)

I hope you guys liked this tutorial!  If you try this design let me know, I would love to see!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!!

Thirst Project Nail Art!! (Charity Tuesday)

Hey Guys!!

It's Tuesday again!!  Today's charity is focused on water. Thirst Project!

The Problem:

"Almost 1 Billion on our planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water and proper sanitization. That’s one in every eight of us. 4,400 children die every day from diseases caused by contaminated water. That’s huge. That’s approximately one child every 15 seconds. 80% of all global diseases are water-borne and result from drinking contaminated water. These diseases kill more than 2.2 million people every year." - Thirst Project

The Solution:

"Water. Water is the problem. Water is the solution. It might not cost as much to build and maintain a freshwater well as you think. The average cost for us to build a freshwater well in the developing nations we work in ranges between $7,500 to $15,000. That means an entire COMMUNITY of people’s lives can be forever saved for as little as $7.5K!" - Thirst Project
This picture.  This simple photoghraph is what started it all.  Founder Seth Maxwell became "loosley" aware of the global water crisis in 2007.  He was only 19!  19!!
I was only able to get one picture because I didn't do a lot of art and I could only get one clear shot.  I'm so upset!!

I hope you guys like this mani and check out Thirst Project for more info on the need for clean water.

Until next time, stay SparKylie!

Miranda Lambert Inspired Nails! (Music Monday)

Hey Guys!!

Today's post was inspired by Miranda Lambert's Grammy nails!!

I love Miranda Lambert So much!  She's an amazing country artist who's fierce attitude has set her apart from the rest!
I know it been quite awhile since the Grammys, but I couldn't think of anything else so I went with this.

It's a very simple look, yet it has just enough POP for it to stand out in a crowd!
Believe it or not, this took me two times to get it right!  I still see imperfections but I won't get into that.

A friend from my church loved them so much she had me do them on her!
Sorry again for another late post, I'll try to be earlier for tomorrow!!

I hope you enjoy this mani as much as I do!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!!

Abby-Day!! (Abby Friday)

Hey Guys!!

I think Fridays are gonna be my favorite day to blog because I get to my paint favorite 2 year old ever's nails!!  ABBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Who's this Abby chick?)
It was a little hard for Abby to sit still long enough for me to paint a design on them, but every time I asked her if she wanted me to stop she'd say "No tanks Kywie, no tanks"!  SO CUTE!!!!
I'm quite pleased with how it turned out considering the fact that this was done on a 2 year old.
Ahh yes...  She insisted on doing my nails too.
I can tell that she pays attention when I do her nails by the way she does mine!  (Her concentration face shown above).
The finished product!...  We'll work on technique as she get older...

Welp that's all for now.  Abby was really happy with the result, for me that's all that matters!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!
(Yes I did get permission for Abby's mommy to do her nails once a week... Not that it should be of anyone's concern...)

Prom doticure!!! (Doticure Wednesday)

Hey Guys!

It's that time again... PROM SEASON! I love prom- all the pretty dresses, hair, makeup, and of course- NAILS!!!
Dots are perfect for prom because you can have them in any color you want to best match your dress and it's also really easy to do on yourself if you don't want to spend a lot of money.
Yes! That is my right hand (Cinderella hand)!! This only means one thing. If I could do it on both hands, girls who have never done their own nails can do this with no trouble at all!
I hope you all enjoyed this design, and if your going to prom this year have fun and let me know if you tried it!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!

Saran Wrap Tutorial! (Tutorial Wednesday)

Hey Guys!

This post is is just going to be a simple, quick, beginner tutorial.  I'm planning on doing more challenging ones in the future, but the next few tutorials are going to be more simple and great for beginners!
That's right!  Saran wrap, probably the easiest mani's you could ever do on yourself so why not start with this?!
This is a fairly basic design so you don't have to think too much on how to do it.  I show each step, startiing fromt he top left.
As you can see I added a couple more colors just to make it more bright and fun!

I hope you guys like this tutorial and design!  I'll be doing tutorials more often so keep checking!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!

Project 7 Mani! (Charity Tuesday)

Hey Guys!

Today's mani is inspired by Project 7.

Project 7 is such a cool charity, it stands apart from all the rest because it doesn't just help one area of need- it helps 7!

Heal
Save
House
Feed
Quench
Teach
Hope

The best part is that donating isn't just a monthly pledge of a certain amount of money, but in stead by just buying something you already get on a weekly basis (such as gum, mints, bottle water...)!  WHATTTT????  I know right! I've only been able to find their gum so far, but man is it good!!  With buying just one tube of gum I had instantly planted a fruit tree!  How cool is that?!

Anyway... On to the nails!

Practice makes perfect, I want to do a whole new Project 7 mani in the future, so keep cheaking in!

Colors used:
Revlon- 571 "Posh"
CraftSmart- "Black"
CraftSmart- "White"

I really hope you check out Project 7 and try some of their "Products for good"!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!

Paramore Nail Art! (Music Monday)

Hey Guys!

I want to start off by apologizing for lack of posts.  My laptop charger died along with my computer, I'm currently using my iPod to write this (autocorrect please be kind to me!!)

For my first Music Monday mani I went with one of my favorite bands!!!  PARAMORE! Gahh I love them!  They just released their new self titled album this month and it's sooo amazing as always!!
I was inspired to this a few months ago (some of you have seen) and it didn't turn out as well as I had planed so I decided to try it again!
I was having trouble with my lightbox so I went all over the house with my camera. :P

I hope you guys like this as much as I do! Check back tomorrow for Charity Tusday!

Until next time, stay SparKylie!

Update!

Just a quick update as far as what's to come! It's been on my mind a lot lately about how to keep a set schedule and how to stay inspired. I started brainstorming and the best thing I could come up with was starting weekly themes:

Music Monday
Charity Tusday
Tutorial Wednesday
Doticure Thursday
Abby Fridays (more info here)
Last but not least Freestyle Weekends.

I think I want to do the Dotcure Thursday as an actual challenge where people can participate and see others work (I'm thinking inlinkz). I'll let you all know once I know for sure how I want to do it so keep an eye out for that!

Until next week, stay SparKylie!
